In the Current Stormy Period of Time

In the current stormy period of time, it is the duty of United European Jewry to declare:

Zionism is not Judaism. Zionism is merely 19th century ethnic nationalism. Zionist religion wholly contravenes Judaism's basic ethical values and numerous religious laws (halachah), and is a strong resistance to our very theology as well.

This is not the view of a small few but rather the historically accurate and mainstream Orthodox view, and has been espoused as such since Zionism was invented.

United European Jews believe that considering that the state of Israel claims to speak in the name of all Jews, to the point where it even refers to itself as our nation-state, it is incumbent upon us to protest the false representation committed by Israel and Zionism.

Therefore, as rabbis and Orthodox Jews we wish to make known:

Zionism is not Judaism. The government of Israel is not the leadership of the Jewish people. The acts of Zionists - or organizations trailing after them - and the ideology of Zionism DOES NOT represent Jews or Judaism.
